`American Idol’ concert tour will start July 1
Whether it’s David Archuleta or David Cook who wins “American Idol” next week, both singers will be part of the show’s annual concert tour.
Tickets for this summer’s “American Idols Live! Tour,” which features the TV show’s top 10 contestants, go on sale Saturday, said series creator Simon Fuller and concert promotion company AEG Live in an announcement Thursday.
With more than 50 stops, the tour is scheduled to begin July 1 in Glendale, Ariz., and end in September in Tulsa, Okla. A Toronto concert is included, with tickets for that concert on sale ...

I got a nasty case of food poisoning Thursday and I was mostly down for the count Friday. So here is a summary of my talk with Jon Peter Lewis at the Starbucks near DIsco Kroger, same place I met Jordin Sparks earlier this year.
Lewis, an eighth place finisher from season three, has spent the past four years in the post-“Idol” trenches, selling a few albums here and there, making appearances and doing concerts. Though he hasn’t gotten a lot of attention by the media, he’s managed to leverage “Idol” to make a living as a musician. “I’m not working at McDonald’s,” he said. He possesses low-key charm.

The Nielsen company recently sent out a compilation of it’s American Idol research to the press. I thought I’d round up a few of the interesting factoids here for fun.
A few of my observations: Notice that popularity online doesn’t necessarily translate to popularity with the voters. Also, American Idol has an audience that skews a bit older with 29% of the total audience between the ages of 35-49. The tweaks for next year promised by FOX executives at the upfronts will surely include attempts to woo back younger viewers. No wonder Simon Cowell wants to lower the audition age to 14.
