Tickets for this summer’s “American Idols Live! 5/17: Jon Peter Lewis interview, Taylor Hicks Broadway bound
American Idol Blog — I got a nasty case of food poisoning Thursday and I was mostly down for the count Friday. So here is a summary of my talk with Jon Peter Lewis at the Starbucks near DIsco Kroger, same place I met Jordin Sparks earlier this year. Lewis, an eighth place finisher from season three, has spent the past four years in the post-“Idol” trenches, selling a few albums here and there, making appearances and doing concerts. Though he hasn’t gotten a lot of attention by the media, he’s managed to leverage “Idol” to make a living as a musician. “I’m not working at McDonald’s,” he said. He possesses low-key charm. And how about ...

One will be picked by Clive Davis (!!!) Wasn’t he recently banished to an island for irrelevant record executives? WTF??!!?  One will be chosen by the contestants–either a reprise of a song already sung during the season, or something new.  The third song will be ...

Fun Facts from Nielsen Media
mjsbigblog — The Nielsen company recently sent out a compilation of it’s American Idol research to the press. I thought I’d round up a few of the interesting factoids here for fun. A few of my observations: Notice that popularity online doesn’t necessarily translate to popularity with the voters. Also, American Idol has an audience that skews a bit older with 29% of the total audience between the ages of 35-49. The tweaks for next year promised by FOX executives at the upfronts will surely include attempts to woo back younger viewers. No wonder Simon Cowell wants to lower the audition age to 14. The ratings chart of viewers ...
