It was 80’s night for the ladies tonight and the judges seemed to more about as interested in the performances as I was. The ladies will not be taking home the idol crown this year.

When the semifinals began, we felt there were more talented girls than guys. As the season has progressed, we've done a 180, now that the wheat has been separated from the chaff. If the field is winnowed down to the correct Top 12, we think there will be more amazing performances by the men than from the women. Perhaps because two of the men -- David Cook and Jason Castro -- have already performed memorable standout performances. For those who want to include David Archuleta's rendition of "Imagine," go right ahead, but, personally, we didn't like it. Week three of American Idol 2008 continued last night with the Top 8 Women performances. The men showed up to compete on Tuesday night so the women knew they had to bring it. I think, once again, the women of Season 7 improved from the previous week although they are still no match for the men for the most part. The good news is that Paula sobered up so things behind the judge’s table were slightly more coherent.
