American Idol Top 10 Sing “Don’t Stop Believing” at Press Tour
Idol Stalker —
The Top 10 from the eight season of American Idol are getting ready to go on tour and during a press conference, they sang Journey’s iconic hit “Don’t Stop Believing” as a group number. I know that the acoustics in the room aren’t all that great and they are still rehearsing but I actually thought that they sounded pretty great!
Matt Giraud and Scott MacIntyre were on the piano providing the only music but I think that, for the most part, they all go their harmonies down. This is such a good song so I really enjoyed listening to it.

AMERICAN IDOL Goes GLEE

Three observations with regards to this really cool video
">
">
">(courtesy of the LATimes) that has this season’s AMERICAN IDOL Top 10 rehearsing just prior to hitting the road for their summer tour.
1. Scott MacIntyre is no Cory Monteith.
2. FOX continues to live up to it’s name, as in “sly as a…” by having the IDOL Top 10 promote their summer tour with what has now become GLEE’s calling card… seriously, genius! Not to mention, corporate synergy at its finest.
3. And speaking of which… how long until GLEE returns? ...

Idolator: Music News, Reviews, And Gossip —
Matt Giraud’s background as a dueling pianist will apparently be put to use on this summer’s American Idol tour, where a version of “Don’t Stop Believin’” featuring the chapeau-sporting singer and Scott MacIntyre on piano will serve as the show’s finale. A clip of the version played at yesterday’s American Idol press preview is above. Was Michael Sarver that tic-y during the season? Why do I not remember that? Wouldn’t it have at least resulted in him sticking around an extra week or two? [YouTube via MJ]

The opening venue for the 50-city tour is the Rose Garden in Portland, just down the road a piece. The show at the Tacoma Dome is two nights later, but I thought it would be better to cover the opening date of the tour to give you a preview.
I've got a big day lined up. If all goes according to plan, I'll be:
- Shooting videos of the Idols signing autographs in the afternoon.
- Interviewing (briefly) each of the top 10 finalists, including winner Kris Allen and runner-up Adam ...
An Idoltracker's journey ends
Idol Tracker —
Forgive me for interrupting regularly scheduled Idol news with some personal business, but I have an announcement to make to Idoltracker readers. Tuesday will be my last day with the LA Times and thus my stint as the LA Times' Idoltracker comes to an end.
It has been an amazing three years covering the most important spectacle in the history of the world. Three years ago, when we started the Showtracker blog, I volunteered to write the occasional review of the occasional episode of Idol, never imagining my life would disappear down the Idol rabbit hole. But then I came face to face with the incredible stories of these young people, ...
